Storytelling Residentials


Graham LangleyThe Traditional Arts Team's storytelling residential workshop this year was with Graham Langley from Storytelling Cafe for storytellers who want to make a greater impact on their audiences.  The core of the weekend was based around the writings of theatre practitioner Peter Brook and folklorist Richard Bauman.

With the advent of a range of storytelling platforms the obvious approaches to performing stories to public audiences have become redundant.   Storytelling is neither theatre nor literature, though it carries the potential of these and other artforms with it.  This was  explored over two days culminating in performances to the group on Sunday afternoon.

The setting was the Wharf Shed at Cromford in the Peak District, a National Monument building that was once a Railway Shed but now provides accommodation and a workspace.
